a special kind of person

Durian, I have yet to decide how I feel about you durian.  There are so many words that can be used to describe this bizarre fruit that is considered by some to be the king of fruits.  Deadly is one as one of these giant spiked ripe fruits falling from a tree has been known to kill unsuspecting passerby's.  Horrifyingly pungent is another.

How can something be so oddly delicious and yet repellent in one bite.  Those are the reasons I honestly cannot decide how I feel about this fruit.  In one bite it's sweet and wonderful then the flavor morphs into something like it smells and then it morphs again into some combination of the two and then you're done and you have bad durian breath.  I sometimes crave it, when this happens I've learned that instead of buying one of the massive spiky fruits that would drive my roommates out of the place I buy these odd little candies or sticks of durian paste, but I never eat many and after the first few I always wonder why I had the craving in the first place.  If you're ever curious, and can't get past the smell and don't want to invest in a full blown durian the candies shown below are pretty fun and cheap substitutes you can find at some of the Asian markets.  You can also try out one of the shakes that some of the "Asian smoothie" places carry.

These jelly like creations come in other flavors as well.  My favorite is Pandan Leaf..

I don't even have any on me but I can smell it in my head.  I hate to like you durian..
