lovable

Valentines fun -  While I'm not completely into the whole Valentines day concept I will admit that I do appreciate the chocolate and I love any excuse to go out to for food, drinks and fun with people I care about.

Dateless but not unloved I dressed up and went out with my friend Kellie for sushi and bowling.  She had a coupon for The Dish, a popular fancy pants sushi bar in Anchorage.  We didn't have reservations so we opted to wait till a slot at the sushi bar opened up.  It was a painless 20 minute wait full of entertaining conversation and people watching till we got a nice front and center spot watching the sushi makers in action.  I was happy with our seats because I enjoy getting to watch the sushi chefs prepare all the fun things I could potentially order, it's really the best seat in the house unless you've got a party of more than two or three.

The Dish did not disappoint this Valentines day... they were well prepared for the onslaught of Valentines customers.  There was live piano music and they paced the seating at a rate that none of the staff seemed overwhelmed and there wasn't a mad din of dinners and activity to cover up the conversation.  While I have admitted I am indecisive I would have to say that Kellie may be my equal and when we're together it gets perpetuated whenever we try to decide anything.. I know, I know.. it's awful I was a server in a previous incarnation but I just can't seem to force quick decisions out of my brain.. but since we were really hungry it wasn't as bad as it has been in the past.. and probably only took the server five-ish trips before we decided on the Naruto - a rice-less roll of tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab and ponzu sauce wrapped in a thin sheet of cucumber and the Lobster Roll - which is pretty self explanatory.  Both our choices were excellent, lovely to look at, tasty and perfectly bite sized.  Towards the end of the meal when the plates were cleared and the check was on it's way one of the many servers came buy with a handful of red roses and baggies with sugar cookies embossed with their logo for each of us.  We ended the evening with bowling in our Valentine finery which looked a little funny as I had knee high boots that covered my knee high striped socks and a polka dotted skirt while my friend was in a short fitted black skirt, white tank and red cardigan..

Naruto translates to dragon ribs.. actually that's a lie maybe, probably..
P.S. I love the little heart of sriracha
