heart healthy in my dreams

Sunny Point Cafe in Asheville, NC I would be happy to start every day with the perfection that is Sunny Point Cafe's maple glazed donut.  This would probably lead me to an early death but at least I would go with a smile on my face.  Real maple cream +  fresh donut perfection = happiness (math is so easy).

However, even I have to admit that I can't actually start my day with deep fried sugar no matter how much I like to pretend I can.  My real breakfast was the Huevos Rancheros with SC made chorizo sausage, black bean cakes, herb home fried potatoes, roasted tomatillo salsa, two free range eggs cilantro crema and feta cheese topped with tortilla strips.  Definitely not entirely a traditional huevos rancheros and while delicious I could have done without either the feta cheese or the cilantro crema or honestly both.  The combination of the rest of the ingredients were really solid and did't need to be covered up with the rich cheese and crema.  My overall opinion of Sunny Point Cafe is that it's a fantastic, colorful cafe where every plate you see looks deliciously mouthwatering and is fairly priced for the quality of the food.  That being said I will eventually try more of the dishes they offer but the only thing that will keep me coming back will be my unconditional love of their maple glazed donuts.

i hearts you; maple glazed heaven

  1. Cool pics. Have you been to Voodoo doughnuts in Portland? I have a hard time believing there's a donut out there that will beat theirs. The huevos rancheros looked delicious though...

  2. I actually have been to Voodoo Donuts. Theirs are amazing, imaginative, donut monstrosities. Especially well not so appealing to a vegetarian but the maple bacon bar kicks ass. I have thought about flying back that way just to eat weight in the maple bacon bar. They also have the best vegan donuts I have ever eaten. But it has been many years since I've visited Voodoo.. so maybe I should make a trip that way for a rematch. So I will will say for right now when I'm craving a yummy plain maple donut this place holds my favorite donut spot. But this really isn't a donut shop, it's a full blown restaurant with an impressively yummy selection of foodstuff.
