that is some comfortable food

Have I said how fantastic it is having roommates who love to cook and socialize?  Who else would be okay with having a midnight fish fry on a weeknight (no it didn't happen on a Sunday I just post slowly)?

Southern foodstuff - also known as soul food can be described as homey, filling, flavorful, typically cheap to make (unless it has seafood), sometimes contains greasy deep fried somethings..

Our dinner:

Crock Pot Made Black Eye Peas - spices are simple: smoked ham hock, salt, summer savory and a bay leaf
Fried Catfish/Rock Fish - take catfish dip in a mix of corn meal, flour and Tony Chachere's. More cornmeal for more crunchy less corn meal for more crispy.
Sauteed Greens - andouille sausage (or other accessible spicy sausage), onions and collard greens

Sadly the photos are not Eddie's Fine Art Photography.. They are my blurry low lighting sadness...
