Salsa at the store is tricky.. it rarely is as good as can be made at home and it most definitely is not as good as a quality salsa bar in a good Mexican restaurant. When I have time I prefer to chop up some onion, tomato, cilantro with a squeeze of lime and few pinches of salt. Most days I don't have much time and on those days I like to have a ready made jar for all my salty chip and dip snack times.
I'm always on the hunt for a premade salsa that doesn't taste like sugar soaked tomatoes. On another shopping venture at World Market I happened across Fire-Roasted Green Chile Salsa by Hatch. It is just straight darn tasty. This jar of salsa comes at a fair price and packs a really wonderful combination of roasted green chilies and tomato goodness. If you ever see it on the shelf grab it up, it beats all but Herdez my personal favorite that is usually found in the Hispanic aisle.
PS. If you're going for low calorie high fiber treat try using celery instead of chips. Happy dipping!

Funny I just made salsa last night. So much better and cheaper. I add a bit of sugar since tomatoes aren't that good here. And serranos, gotta have them. I've been buying the simply organic FM brand salsas, they are OK, especially the verde. You should review chips next!l
