Greek festivals - I've gone to a few.. at each of them I would say I've eaten my weight in all food things that are Greek. From loukoumades, dolmades, baklava, gyros, moussaka and a bunch of other barely pronounceable names.. all delicious....
I like to say that it's for charity.. usually they are fund raising to do renovations on their cool looking churches and sometimes it's been to fund building a new one or any number of other churchy type things. I always feel pretty good about helping churches and their fund raisers they don't usually have much profit.. well, unless it's Scientology or Mormons (I'm not even a feminist in a traditional sense.. I like it when men hold the door open and open my jars of food.. that being said my theory is that if you love the concept of womens rights don't drink coke products the Momo's own it).
The loukoumades are my current must get Greek fest food.. if there were 40 people in line I would still wait for them but if there were 100 I would seriously consider waiting for them.. they are warm soft balls of milky batter soaked in honey sprinkled with cinnamon and walnuts (I'm slightly allergic to them but it's totally worth an itchy mouth)... Seriously unless you're diabetic or anorexic everyone should have a go at these.
