i'm a chubby lover

Yes, I am proud to say I'm a chubby lover.  I discovered this while visiting my yoga friend Camellia who recently moved to Raleigh, NC and graciously let me crash at her place even though she had been there for about two days.  Yelp (a fantastically helpful internet tool) led us to Chubby Tacos.
Chubby Tacos is the epitome of everything I've been looking for in a independent Mexican fast food joint.  It's really good, maybe not the best carne asada (a little tough for my liking) tacos but the carnitas and the spicy tinga chicken were solid dishes full of flavor (they even offer vegetarian options which Camellia approved of).  Possibly the best part of chubby's is the salsa bar.  I've been to plenty of Mexican restaurants with average salsa bars... spicy, medium, mild, tamatillo (aka the green one), some creamy looking ones that are often questionably flavored.. more often than not they are stocked with soupy vats of tomato paste with some chilis.. That was not the case at chubby's.. lots of fun flavors and colors and all of them were equally tasty.. even the creamy ones. I would say this place is a highly recommended find.  Budget friendly, friendly staff, super tasty, fresh, clean, quick and the hint of a vaguely inappropriate name that's also completely innocent depending on how dirty your mind is.. What's not to love?

onions and cilantro.. just the way I like it.
respect the salsa bar..
vegetarian mexican.. looks mighty tasty
yes I am!!
I was recently told that it was odd that good food comes out of restaurants located in strip malls.   Honestly, I never knew that it was weird that good food could come from a strip mall.. Being from Alaska I would say a majority of the restaurants are located in often oddly located strip malls I think it's more of a big, big city (like Chicago, Seattle, NY) thing to think strip mall food is strange.  Maybe I'm wrong.. I don't know..
