getting lost never tasted so good

I do not always pay attention to directions well.  This means sometimes I get lost, and get to places a lot later than I really want to. Should I pay attention more and not miss those merge right to continue on I-whatever I'm on?  Probably.  If I did that though I wouldn't get to stumble onto places like Fat Daddy's BBQ in Bedford, VA.. a good 20 miles from the road that I was supposed to be on.  Worth it?  Absolutely.  I would say one of the better BBQ sandwiches I've come across in the south so far.

The place is new but still keeps that small and understated atmosphere that seems popular with many of the small Carolina BBQ joints.   The bonus to this place was the selection of  their sauces.  A Carolina mustard, a spicy one, a sweet and spicy and a handful others but I didn't write them down *sad face.  Anyway, the beef brisket is what I went with, it was fantastic.  The boy at the counter asked what sauce I'd like and I asked him what type he liked on it.. He said "sauceless, the meat speaks for itself."  He was right, although I did have a bite with each of the different sauces for fun it really didn't need it.  I don't often imagine barbecue as sauceless but whatever "Fat Daddy" does to make the brisket super tender and flavorful works.  Another added yum about Fat Daddy's is that instead of the normal bland white bread buns that are used by most of the barbecue joints I have gone to they use potato buns.  I highly recommend getting lost and finding yourself in Bedford, VA for a quick lunch at Fat Daddy's.  If I'm ever in the area again I know I will be doing the same thing.

hello fat daddy (that sounds really strange, i don't think i will ever say that again)

i hate Styrofoam but the south does make it taste so good.
